Who Are We?

Whole Systems Learning (WSL) is a Long Beach–based nonprofit that creates safe, innovative spaces for youth and adults to grow, learn, and thrive. With over 15,000 square feet dedicated to round-the-clock access, WSL provides wrap-around case management, mental health coaching through its T.R.I.B.E. model, and hands-on career training in fields such as audio/video production, trucking, and entrepreneurial development. WSL partners with local organizations, businesses, and city leaders to empower participants with the tools, mentorship, and opportunities needed to build sustainable futures.

We offer programs and services catered to meet the needs of the populations we serve.

TRIBE (Turning Resilience into Brilliance for Eternity) offers a comprehensive 12-week self-help program with diverse workshops designed to empower individuals. Our workshops include "Know Thyself," which explores the six principles of self-identity and heritage, "Emotional Awareness," "Healing Circles," "Entrepreneurship & Wealth Building," and more. Depending on attendance participants can receive a stipend of up to $500.
The Video Audio Program is a comprehensive 12-week course designed to teach you the fundamentals of both video and audio production. This extensive program covers everything from camera operation and video editing to sound mixing and audio equipment handling.
Upon completing the course, participants with good attendance can receive a stipend of up to $500 for their dedication and hard work.
Alongside RICMS, we offer personalized case management services to help you achieve your goals. Whether you need assistance finding a job, obtaining your ID or driver's license, securing a TAP card, or accessing other essential resources, we can assign you a dedicated case worker. Your case worker will provide one-on-one support and guidance, ensuring you have the tools and assistance needed to succeed.
Our office proudly offers three FREE creative spaces for the community to utilize and rent five days a week.

Our Origin

Founded in 1996, Whole Systems Learning (WSL) is dedicated to assisting justice-involved individuals. As of 2024, we continue to serve the community by offering comprehensive wrap-around case services, including housing, clothing, mental health support, skills training, and life coaching. Our mission is to guide individuals onto a path of success and help them achieve their goals.

ART 2 WEAR

At Whole Systems Learning, we believe every young person — especially those who have experienced foster care, homelessness, gang involvement, or trauma — deserves the chance to discover their purpose, heal, and build a brighter future. Through our Youth T-Shirt Printing Program, participants develop creativity by designing original artwork and expressing their voices, gain entrepreneurship skills through marketing, sales, and small business training, and experience healing as they build confidence and resilience through hands-on creation.
